Tabacón Grand Spa-Thermal Resort is a unique destination in Costa Rica, offering an extraordinary relaxation experience amid a paradisiacal setting. The resort’s setting is made up of cascades and river pools of hot springs, all surrounded by exuberant tropical gardens and rain forest. Tabacón Lodge opened to the public in late 1997, offering 42 internationally rated four-star hotel rooms. Throughout the following three years, Tabacon Lodge was further developed and facilities were added, including thermal pools, formal restaurant and 40 additional rooms.
Today, the Tabacón Resort offers 108 rooms, and the property plan to add 6 more Deluxe rooms. Tabacón offers a myriad of services to ensure your stay in Arenal will be memorable. Tabacon provides the most exclusive Thermal Resort facilities in all of Arenal with visitors arriving daily, seeking the sanctity of our 740 acre paradise at the foot of the Arenal Volcano. As a guest of Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort, you benefit from longer hours at the Thermal Springs and The Grand Spa, and gain generous savings on the day pass entrances, already included in your room rates. The Honeymoon Suite is our most distinguished accommodation. These spacious, charming rooms offer an exceptional view of the gardens. Food supply is not contained in the price. The following restaurants are available in the hotel:
Ave del Paraíso
Featuring lovely views of the main waterfall and our lush tropical gardens, Ave del Paraíso is located in the resort´s hot springs and garden area. Some tables offer direct volcano views. The restaurant is designed to accommodate large group lunches and dinners, and also for guests seeking a more informal setting.
Our extensive lunch menu features salads, sandwiches and light entrees. Fruit juices and milk shakes complement our Fusion style cuisine, and are perfect for the mid-day meal. Our renowned tropical cocktails are available from the main bar. Ave del Paraiso also offers a SPA Menue, a selection of light meals for those with appetite for lighter fare.
Dinners are served buffet style. While our salad, pasta and dessert bars are staples in the evening service, main courses vary according to the day’s theme. Daily selections always feature at least three main courses, hot and cold side dishes and grilled selections. Native Costa Rican ingredients, which typically include white or yellow rice, black beans, yucca (cassava), plantain, chayote (local squash), hearts of palm, pejibaye and many other local favorites, combined with international ingredients are an integral part of our recipes.

Los Tucanes Restaurant
Los Tucanes offers first-class dining in a relaxed setting. Located on the hotel grounds, with spectacular volcano views and bordered by the rainforest, this welcoming and intimate restaurant serves a tropical breakfast buffet and á la carte dinners. Live music provides a lively yet cozy atmosphere, complemented by the sounds of water flowing into the hot springs pools.
The delicious Los Tucanes breakfast buffet supplies the freshest tropical fruit, omelets made to order, along with traditional Costa Rican dishes and U.S.-style breakfast fare, all accompanied by freshly-made tropical drinks and Costa Rica’s best coffee. Guests at Los Tucanes have the opportunity to dine on the best of international, gourmet and Costa Rican cuisine. We also offer vegetarian options and a lighter-fare menu.

Romantic Gala Dinner
One of Tabacón´s signature services is a candlelight dinner, sure to be a memorable experience for couples sharing a romantic vacation. Perfect for honeymoons or anniversaries, or just to share a loving occasion with that special someone, this extremely personalized service is a unique opportunity to experience dinner in a glorious natural setting.
Our new private bungalows located in the botanical gardens, nestled in the edges of the rainforest, with streams of hot springs running on either side and open on three sides to take in the views of the verdant gardens and forest, provide a unique ambience. Your dinner will be served at a magnificently set table for two, among lit torches, making an unforgettable romantic moment.
To enjoy this spectacular service, we recommend making a reservation 48 hours in advance. You can also request the romantic dinner by adding it to the notes section on the reservations form.
Arenal Wet Bar
One of Tabacón´s signature locations within the property! The Arenal Wet Bar at the main pool offers superb views of the Arenal Volcano. Guests enjoy tropical drinks and cocktails, immersed in the hot springs pool, relaxing or chatting with other guests.
Open bar parties at the main pool and bar are available after hours upon request. Reservations for private parties are required.

El Palenque Bar
Located in the tropical gardens of the resort´s amazing hot springs, surrounded by one of the most beautiful rainforests in the whole world, the Tabacón river and an spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano.

Caña Brava Bar
Experience a great time in our lobby bar, next to the hotel´s front desk. We offer live music every day, delicious snacks, and a plasma TV for those who enjoy sports or any other special shows on television.

Entertainment Information: Tabacón Grand Spa
The Arenal Region, with its splendid and famous volcano, its National Park and the Arenal Lake, has become a unique and exciting destination for nature lovers and explorers.
The Tabacón Resort features a quiet swimming pool and outside Jacuzzi filled with thermal mineral water, the perfect place to enjoy the natural surroundings of the property: the rainforest and volcano.
Hot springs are considered a natural expression of Earth´s inherent energy. Geologically, Tabacón Resort´s hot springs are 97% rain-based and 3% magma-based. Rainwater enters the earth through fissures on the surface and is then heated by magma found in the earth´s core. Once heated, the waters rise to surface, taking with them minerals found in the earth´s rocky stratus. Thus, the resort´s waters are loaded with minerals. Hot springs provide many benefits stemming from various chemical, physical and biological effects.

Adventurous guests at Tabacón Resort can choose from a wide selection of excursions and experience the thrills of adventure and ecological activities in the Arenal area. The different tours in the region include amazing white water rafting; canyoning; kayaking; exciting canopy tours; rainforest sky trek and horseback rides to the Volcano and La Fortuna Waterfall.
